Being Nobody Going Nowhere

by Ayya Khema

We will be meeting the first and third Saturday of the Month, 1 - 3 pm to read and discuss our book selection.

Ayya Khema (1923-1997), author of our current book, was a Buddhist Nun from the Theravaden tradition who was born in Germany.  Her books are very insightful and clear and work well in a group dedicated to discussing and applying Buddhist principles to our daily lives.

The Saturday study group will be starting a new book .  Newcomers are welcome.  We will do a thorough analysis of the book by reading it out loud with pauses for discussion.  The book is: Becoming Bodhisattvas: A Guidebook for Compassionate Action by Pema Chodron.  This book was previously published under the title of: No Time to Lose.  It is a commentary on The Way Of The Bodhisattva by Shantideva, an 8th century Buddhist Teacher.

Sonam Dorje, our teacher and spiritual friend, was born in Tibet and ordained a monk at the age of 5.  Sonam has studied all 4 schools of Tibetan Buddhism and has had all the major empowerments.  Sonam is retired from a career in biotechnology and is a scholar of physics as well as classical Tibetan Buddhism.
